The driver promises me it will happen on the 23rd of July and I can’t wait. Yes folks the cousins in the stealthodore are making a comeback in the George Derrick Memorial Trial, CCRMIT’s premier event!
Sean and Mick have had a nearly 6 year hiatus in their rallying “career” and it could well happen in July.
Now though, having written about it, I’m sure the elements will conspire to throw a spanner in the works, but this little black duck, left seat passenger, navigator type person will put in the effort required to get it to happen.

Some will ask how you could possibly enjoy a ride in a car at speed, on loose surface roads you don’t know, with someone else in control. Well yes, you do need to be a little bit adventurous and I won’t say I don’t get apprehensive at times, but I trust the skill of the driver and I trust my ability to tell him the direction we need to go in. We have good safety equipment and the car is prepared for what we do. And in the end, the exhillaration when it all comes together is fantastic.

So whats a stealthodore?
Well its an Australian model car (a Commodore) made by GM. Ours is black (although the colour is about to change very soon) and very quiet (thanks to the EPA). Hence Stealthodore!

And what’s rallying?
It’s a form of motor sport where crews compete against the clock (and each other) along roads (in our case loose surface forest roads) with aid of a route chart and or map (depending on the level of the event). Cars generally start at 2 minute intervals and if the seeding is right they don’t catch each other. Sometimes of course, they do!

I’ll keep you up to date on the antics of Hifive Racing (not our real team name) as we progress, but for now.
Ciao!
